QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
The globular body decorated with three pairs of confronted kui dragons, picked out in iron-red against a turquoise-ground, each pair of dragons divided by a stylised Indian lotus bloom, repeated on the broad vertical rim with pairs of blue kui dragons confronting a stylised Shou character, the body flanked by a pair of strap-handles decorated with prunus blooms, supported on three bulbous feet with floral decoration; the rounded sides of the cover in gilt-metal openwork, designed with bats in flight amidst ruyi clouds, encircled by a stepped cloisonné enamel section, surmounted by an openwork gilt-metal knop-finial, decorated with lotus scrolls
