拍品专文

Alphonse Servais (1876-1954) was a highly-decorated officer serving in the Belgian army during both World Wars. He was an eclectic collector with a discerning eye and impeccable taste.

The present hardstone elephant is part of Servais's impressive collection, formed in the early 1900s, which included European, African and Asian works of art.
