An egg with a nearly identical gilt ciselé reverse, the front depicting St Alexander Nevskii, is illustrated in T. Kudriavtseva and H. Whitbeck, Russian Imperial Easter Eggs, London, 2001, p. 172, No. 134. The miniature of St Alexander Nevskii is signed 'P.D.' in Cyrillic and dates to the 1870s.
