A Porcelain Easter Egg
By the Imperial Porcelain Factory, St Petersburg, circa 1860
Ovoid, on a gilt ground, centering an oval panel depicting the Evangelist Matthew, within a ciselé foliate scroll border with identifying inscription in Russian, the reverse centering a ciselé roundel enclosing a radiant star, within a rocaille border, suspended on a silk ribbon, the front panel indistinctly signed with Cyrillic initials '?P.' (lower right), also with indistinct impressed mark on lower end
3 7/8 in. (9.8 cm.) high, excluding ribbon
