maker's mark of Johann Jakob II Burckhardt, Basel, circa 1750
Pear-shaped, on three scroll and hoof feet with plain oval cartouche above, each within chased and engraved shell and scrolling foliage surround, the wood handle carved as a dolphin, the border, faceted covered spout and domed cover, chased and engraved with bands of foliage, trelliswork and scrolls on matting, with baluster finial, marked on base
