Sets of the Collected Works and Collected Essays in vellum were evidently bound only as ordered. Some 20 sets of unbound sheets were acquired from the Library of Imperial History in the mid-1980s and bound in red morocco. "Many collectors thought the morocco-bound Works were more handsome and durable than the vellum" (Langworth, A Connoisseur's Guide to the Books of Sir Winston Churchill, 365). (38)
