Contemporary dark blue straight-grained morocco, covers with gilt borders with ornamental devices in corners surrounding an inner compartment with fillet and drawer-handle gilt border, spine gilt in 6 compartments with 5 raised bands, gilt lettered in 2 with ornamental device in the others, turn-ins gilt with ornamental and sunburst tooling, edges gilt concealing a fore-edge painting of KENSINGTON PLACE BY C. B. CURRIE (lightly rubbed). Provenance: Francis J. Weber (bookplate, laid in); Dorothy Dings Kohler (ownership inscription).
Fore-edge painting SIGNED AND NUMBERED BY C. B. CURRIE with a note that reads: "This is No. 34 of the Books with Foredge Paintings by Miss Currie. The Painting under the gold is a view of Kensington Palace. Signed, C. B. Currie."
