Blue levant morocco, covers with single gilt fillet borders, each cover with a large oval vari-colored central panel bearing a hunting scene framed by an onlaid brown morocco strapwork design and a gilt floral spray, above each oval is a rectangular panel showing onlaid morocco hunting dogs in pursuit, below each oval is a rectangular panel showing an onlaid brown morocco REYNARD in flight, spine in 6 compartments with 5 raised bands, gilt-lettered in 2 compartments, a gilt panel in the rest with alternating onlaid morocco hunting horn and fox head tools, board edges gilt, blue levant morocco doublures with onlaid morocco floral border on a gilt-dotted background with fox head corner ornaments, brown watered silk linings, top edges gilt, others uncut; modern cloth slipcase (minor soiling to covers). On inner flyleaf is a transcript in ink of 18 lines of verse from page 122, and a small pen and ink drawing of a hunting scene, SIGNED and dated "John Masefield. Dec. 10. 1920." Hayward 336.
