2 parts in one volume, 2o (344 x 228 mm). 2 engraved titles incorporating a portrait of the author, each book with printed title, 42 full-page woodcut illustrations (3 double-page) and 44 full-page engraved illustrations (5 double-page) ornamental initials and headpieces, gilt edges. (Some minor marginal dampstaining, lacking the printer's note and register, supplied in facsimile.) Contemporary Italian (probably Venetian) limp vellum richly decorated in gilt, flat spine in seven compartments, gilt lettered red label in second (some minor rubbing and staining).

FIRST EDITION of one of the most comprehensive treatises on architecture, which had a wide influence in Italy and northern Europe. The plate on page 62 of book 6 has not been corrected and is a duplicate of the plate on page 58. Berlin Katalog 2605; Brunet V:180: "Edition rare"; Cicognara 651; Fowler 292.
