With gilt finished verge movement, engraved and pierced cock, chain fusee, the gilt dial with champleve white enamelled Roman numerals, the centre with champleve blue enamelled floral decoration, blued steel moon-style hands, revealed by opening the hinged shield shaped and engraved base, the sides and bottom painted with multi-coloured panels of 18th century lovers in romantic landscapes, the feet depicting eagle heads and wings, the central faceted, engraved and blue enamel rope-twist column with painted floral decoration, surmounted by a classical female figure finial, the sound-board with painted scenes depicting couples in a landscape, gilt wire strings, case and dial unsigned, movement signed Cht. Moricand
