A GREEK IVORY PROTOME
CLASSICAL PERIOD, CIRCA MID 5TH-4TH CENTURY B.C.
In the form of a ram's head, with delicately carved features, the thick ridged horns underslung, extending along the jawline, the fleece rendered in three rows of raised pellets along the browline, the deeply carved eyes originally inlaid, the snout with recessed nostrils and a delineated mouth
