A ROMAN BRONZE OIL LAMP
CIRCA LATE 3RD CENTURY A.D.
Circular in form with a rounded upturned nozzle, the discus open as a fill hole, encircled by a raised molding, the edges inlaid with a silver laurel wreath, the ring handle with a crescent surmounted by a bust of Minerva, the crescent inlaid in silver with four starbursts and a crescent moon, the goddess wearing a crested helmet, the peaked frontlet overlaid in silver, her finely-delineated hair center parted, her eyes inlaid in silver, her aegis fronted by a gorgoneion, on a raised lathe-turned foot
