CIRCA 4TH-5TH CENTURY A.D.
One of faceted carnelian, perforated, the underside engraved with a stag walking left, its head turned back, with fillet ties at its neck, partially encircled by a Pahlavi inscription reading: "refuge/trust;" and one of banded agate, perforated, the underside engraved with a lion walking left, partially encircled by a Pahlavi inscription reading: "trust in the gods"

Acquired by the family of the current owner and brought to the U.S. prior to 1978.
