Third edition edited by Girolamo Bologni of Julius Caesar's commentary on the Gallic and Civil Wars. De Bello Gallico is his first-hand account of the battle of the Romans against the Gauls; its final chapter describes events after the war and was written by Aulus Hirtius. The De Bello Civili covers the period 49 to 48 B.C., from Caesar's invasion of Italy to Pompey's defeat at the Battle of Pharsalus. It continues with an account on the Alexandrian, African and Hispanic wars, believed to have been written by Aulus Hirtius and Gaius Oppius.
