Lot Essay

This is set was made for the 200th year anniverary of the Fürstenberg manufactory. The bright blue is a consequence of the material shortage after World War II, and later this model was offered in celadon green and white. The kings are modelled to represent Duke Carl I of Brunswick, the queens are Phillipine Charlotte, sister of Frederich II the Greatest, and the bishops are Johann Georg von Langen, Director of the manufactory from 1747-1763.
