1965 FERRARI 330 GT 2+2
COACHWORK BY PININFARINA
Chassis No. 5617
Red with black leather interior.
Engine: V-12, single overhead camshaft per bank, 3967cc,300bhp at 6,600rpm; Gearbox: four-speed with overdrive; Suspension: independent with wishbones and coil springs front, semi-elliptic leaf springs rear; Hydraulic dampers. Left-hand drive.
The success of the three litre 250GTE 2+2 as Ferrari's first four seater GT car, was followed by a new V12 engine. Called the 209 series, this unit developed 300bhp - and in January 1964 the new 330 GT 2+2 was unveiled. The four speed, all synchomesh gearbox had a modified Laycock overdrive on fourth gear to enhance the car's long-legged gait whilst the most obvious external feature of the early 330 GT's was the paired headlamps.
This 330GT was imported by the vendor from the USA and was then in running condition. It has been stored since and now needs re-commissioning and some detailed attention. As we were going to print, the owner advised us that he had most unfortunately lost the title going with the car. He is however, still hoping to find it before the sale.
