The shaped eared rectangular top and slightly bombé sides inlaid with floral sprays, with leather-lined fall-front enclosing a tulipwood-veneered fitted interior, above an apron drawer, on ram's mask and laurel-swag headed slight cabriole legs and hoof sabots, stamped 'B. PERIDIEZ' and twice 'JME', embellished with the addition of floral marquetry and 18th century mounts in the 19th century, the lower drawer previously with slide and encrier

Lot Essay

Brice Peridiez, maître in 1737.

Also known as Peridiez le père, Peridiez had three sons who were all ébénistes, Gérard, Louis and Pierre-Mathieu. He is know to have worked extensively with his contemporary, the marchand-ébéniste Pierre IV Migeon.
