Lot Essay

The design with the two birds placed amongst dense foliage is reminiscent of Chinese decoration. A similar example with later Dutch silver cover is illustrated in C.J.A. Jörg, Fine & Curious- Japanese Export Porcelain in Dutch Collections, Amsterdam, 2003, p. 61, ill. 45.
