Lot Essay

F.P. Journe produced the Tourbillon Souverain in ruthenium, a rare transition metal of the platinum group, in a limited edition of 99 pieces in 2002.

The Tourbillon Souverain with remontoir d'égalité was the first tourbillon wristwatch made by F.P. Journe. One of F.P. Journe's pioneering horologic masterworks,it combines a one minute tourbillon regulator with a remontoir. The remontoir provides a constant force to the balance, intervening between the mainspring and the balance so as to maintain an equal rate of force whether the watch is fully wound or not, hence increasing the precision.
