Each cast standing four-square, with a curling mane, single horn and an open mouth expression, the hinged head forming the cover for the hollow interior; The amber carved with various monkeys and their young clambering atop a large boulder, of a light golden honey tone
7 in. (17.8 cm.) high, fitted wooden stand; 3 3/8 in. (8.6 cm.) high (3)
Provenance
The amber carving acquired by Sir Sydney Barratt from Louis Joseph, London, 29 June 1961 (as Chia Ching) and by descent.
