One of Larkin Goldsmith Mead's most well known sculptures, Venezia was conceived during the artist's stay in Venice, Italy from 1862 to 1865. Other examples of Venezia are in the collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Chrysler Museum, Norfolk, Virginia; California Historical Society, San Francisco, California; and Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Massachusetts.
