PATUNG OR SQUASH KACHINA
Before 1910
Carved and painted cottonwood in the form of a gourd, the body painted white with traces of blue and yellow with black vertical ribbing all over the body and head. The body is carved with bent legs and arms close to the body. The head is in the shape of a small squash and has almond shaped eyes and a tuft of wool at the back of the head.
7¾ x 3 in. (17.8 x 7.6 cm.)

Purchased by the current owner when she worked for Alexander Girard in Santa Fe in 1960
