Howard, The Choice of the Private Trader, p. 221, where the author remarks that the coordination between Chinese modelers and European metalworkers "...shows the sophisticated planning behind such fine Private Trade." A very similar snuffbox, but with Chinese scenes, was sold Christie's London, 11 May 2004, lot 88.
