The animal standing with its head to the right wearing a halter, the lead line lying across its back, on a canted rectangular base, the top green within a molded wreath border and glazed in claret, the sides molded with stiff-leaf tips similarly decorated

Lot Essay

The present lot is an example of the more-often found larger size of pearlware stallion produced at the Leeds pottery with variantly decorated coats and bases. For a discussion of the model, see the footnote to the preceding lot.
