Shaped oval on four scroll and foliage feet, with bifurcated scroll and foliage handles, the reeded border with shells and scrolls at intervals, the raised centre with four applied rocaille supports and engraved with coat-of-arms and crest in scroll cartouches, marked on base

Lot Essay

The arms are those of Fetherstonhaugh. A very similar stand with sauce-tureen by the same maker, 1823, was sold by the executors of the late Richard James Meade-Fetherstonhaugh, Christie's London, May 22, 1974, lot 157.
