A NEAR PAIR OF GEORGE III MAHOGANY TABLES FOR WRITING, SEWING AND GAMES
CIRCA 1800, POSSIBLY IRISH
Each with cross-banded rectangular top fitted with a rising screen, the frieze fitted to one side with four small drawers and to the other with a sliding reversible chess and backgammon games board and a narrow counter drawer, fitted to the front with a writing drawer with folding baize-lined slide and fitted interior with secret drawer to side, with work basket to the side and a drawer to the base, the underside of one lower drawer with various inscriptions, on spirally-reeded tapering legs and turned feet, the drawers with ivory handles
