Lot Essay

Although it has not been possible definitively to link the present drawing with any particular lot in Lempereur's sale, beginning on 24 May 1773, it may be lot 572, described as 'Un dessein à la plume, au bistre & rehaussé de blanc au pinceau; premiere pensée d'un tableau que M. Natoire a fait pour l'appartement de la Reine'.
We are grateful to Susanna Caviglia for confirming the attribution of this drawing to Natoire.
