1682, PROBABLY LONDON
Each inscribed with a numbered verse between a crown and winged cherub mask issuing scrolls and winged dragon's heads, suspending pendant tassel swags, within concentric bands, the border initialed I/·I·K· and dated 1682 between scroll ornament:

Named for the first line of the rhyme inscribed on them, the present 'Merry Man' plates would appear to be the earliest complete set extant.
