Nimcha marocain à monture en argent
XIXème sicècle
Lame courbe à simple tranchant dotée de gouttières, se terminant en une pointe à double tranchant, frappée de marques de chaque côté notamment de croissants, garde caractéristique plaquée d'argent regravé, croisière en laiton à trois quillons incurvés vers le bas terminés en boutons, branche de garde en laiton terminée en bouton, fusée en corne noire partiellement sertie d'argent ciselé de feuillages, une fleur de lys d'argent appliquée sur chaque face de la poignée, l'une des faces est ornée d'une pierre semi-précieuse rouge, fourreau couvert de velours rouge d'origine avec un bracelet doté d'un anneau de suspension, la moitié inférieure est recouverte côté extérieur de la lame de fleurs et vrilles en cuir découpé sur fond de textile coloré.

A silver-mounted Moroccan Nimcha
19th century
With curved fullered single-edged blade double-edged towards the tip and struck on each side with marks including crescent moons, characteristic hilt comprising engraved silver-plated brass quillon-block with three downturned quillons each with bud finial and knuckle-guard with further bud finial, and dark horn grip partially encased with silver panels chased with foliage, the flats of the grip each with applied silver fleur-de-lys, the outer flat also set with a red semiprecious stone, in original red velvet-covered scabbard with single chased band fitted with a suspension ring, the lower half of the scabbard with leather cover cut in a design of flower-heads and tendrils on the outer side against a coloured textile backing.
