Large canon octogonal avec visée, frappé du poinçon de Strasbourg et d'un poinçon de fabricant non répertorié 'HK' au dessus d'une étoile au sein d'un écu (semblable au Neue Stockel 2934-36), canon en fer rainuré, large platine à corps plat de forme rouet, fin porte-mèche à tête annulaire, crosse incrustée de plaques de nacre et bois de cerf, soulignées de filets en bois de cerf, plaques gravées de volutes, fleurs et scènes de chasse, sous-garde à doigtier, baguette postérieure.

A rare Strasbourg snap-matchlock target gun
Early 17th century
With heavy slightly swamped octagonal sighted barrel struck with Strasbourg mark and the unrecorded maker's mark 'HK' above a star within a shield (similar to Neue Stockel 2934-36), grooved iron tang, large flat lock of wheel-lock form, slender match-holder with annular head, full stock profusely inlaid with mother of pearl and white staghorn panels bordered by staghorn lines, the panels engraved with scrollwork, flower-heads and scenes of the chase, turned iron cross-pin fitted through the fore-end, set triggers, iron trigger-guard, and later ramrod.
