Lot Essay

The simple moonphase calendar wristwatch was produced in very limited quantities by Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet, it would appear that this wristwatch is a possibly unique example by Haas Neveux and the first by this maker to appear at auction.
The ebauche was supplied by LeCoultre and finished and assembled by Haas Neveux who were renowned for their high standards as finishers of watch movements. The movement of this watch should be compared to that of a simple calendar moonphase wristwatch by Audemars Piguet for E. Gubelin, sold at Sotheby's New York on 27 October 1987, lot 502, for US$ 110,000.
According to the present owner, this watch has remained in private ownership since new.
