Lot Essay

This necklace is unusual in that it consists of yellow diamonds with white diamond detail. Generally one would see the opposite pattern. Its knife-edged setting could lead one to date the jewel to the 1890s, whereas the platinum suggests a date closer to the turn-of-the-century.
