Lot Essay

The ink handwritten note outlines the provenance of this chest. Apparently it was once owned by Mrs Maria Robert Roe (d.1901), who possibly lived in Ipswich or Cambridge. It isapparently illustrated in a publication by F.Gordon Rose, F.S.A, English Cottage Furniture, 1949, fig. 43.
