Lot Essay

Myslbek studied in Prague and Vienna and became the leading Czech exponent of romantic sculpture at the turn of the century. His most famous work is the statue of Saint Wenceslas in the centre of Wenceslas Square, Prague, started in 1887 and completed after Myslbek's death in 1924.
