A Japanese Imari octagonal dish
18th Century
Decorated to the central octagonal panel in underglaze blue, iron-red, green and gilt with two boys at play on a fenced terrace, the border with eight openwork wave panels, the base with four character mark fu ki cho chun (happiness) within a single ring, some gilt rubbing
24.5 cm. diam.
