This clock, after a model introduced in Paris in the 1780s, celebrates Love's triumph by evoking the 'Feast of Bacchus'. Similar examples have been sold: the Spaans collection, Christie's Amsterdam, 19 December 2007, lot 471 (10,200 euros); the Property of a European Lady, Christie's Amsterdam, 21 September 2001, lot 447 (10,755 euros); and anonymous sale, Christie's London, 13 December 2001, lot 555 (£7,050). The latter example was signed by Claude Charles Filon.
