ATTRIBUTED TO EVANS, HANDSWORTH, BIRMINGHAM. CIRCA 1865
DIAL: pierced, engraved and silvered chapter ring with shield chapters, blued steel hands MOVEMENT: pierced plates joined by five double-screwed pillars, twin chain fusees, train wheels with six crossings, anchor escapement, rack strike/trip repeat on gong; ebony rod pendulum with zinc bob, marble plinth with ormolu figure of Sir Walter Scott and dog, replaced plinth and glass dome, winding key
22¼ in. (56.5 cm.) high, excluding dome; 14½ in. (37 cm.) wide; 9¾ in. (25 cm.) deep

The first Evans Scott Memorial clock was produced for the Great Exhibition of 1851, with balance escapement. The popularity of its design ensured that many were made, with various movement types.
