CASE: blind fret cornice to scroll top hood with brass Corinthian capitals to columns, trunk with canted angles, sides with bird, butterfly and floral inlay, conforming marquetry to the trunk door with lenticle, bombé plinth on paw feet DIAL: 12 in. wide brass dial with scroll and urn spandrels to silvered chapter ring with half hour markers, matted centre with subsidiary seconds, date square, alarm disc and scroll pierced cartouche signed 'A. Lot Essay

Andries Vermeulen (1680-1752) came from Emmerik. He is listed in the Register of Good Men in 1716 and is recorded in Amsterdam in 1721. In 1726 he had a workshop in The Kalverstraat, later moving to The Huidenstraat.
