'A pretty accurate painting made from a drawing. The wire netting is to stop sheep jumping over the walls. Limestone and millstone grit are mixed here where Wharfedale changes from the latter to the former' (see Exhibition catalogue; Bradford Art Galleries and Museums, Richard Eurich, R.A.: A Retrospective Exhibition, Bradford, 1979, p. 81).
