Meiji period (late 19th century), signed Dai Nihon Kyoto, Sato Yoshiteru and with kao (cursive monogram) [Sato Yoshiteru, 1828-1902]
The rounded rectangular box set on four short bracket feet, the cover decorated in gilt, silver, copper and shakudo takazogan and incised details with a flock of cranes in flight over a river, within a thin wavy border, the sides of the box with incised and inlaid autumn foliage and insects, silvered interior; signed on base
