A gilt bronze figure of Shadakshari Avalokiteshvara
Tibet, 16th/17th century
The four-armed bodhisattva seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus base, his primary hands in anjalimudra before his heart and the secondary hands holding the mala and padma, clad in a dhoti incised with clouds, rosettes, and diamond-and-leaf patterns secured with a beaded belt, adorned with anklets, bracelets, necklaces, and disk-shaped earrings inlaid with hardstones, the face with heavy-lidded eyes centered by a rectangular urna and crowned by a foliate tiara, the hair piled in a double-level chignon with escaping locks parted at the back
