The text around the bottom is a praise directed towards Legpa'i Jungne. The full translation given in U. von Schroeder, 1981. The inscription could refer either to the Sakya Iama Nesarwa Kunga Legpa'i Jungne (1704-1760) or Lowo Khenchen Sonam Lundrub Legpa'i Jungne (1456-1532). Jeff Watt has proposed it is the latter, based on the age of the sculpture, the sideburns and the rotund torso; see Himalayan Art Resources, item no. 66756.
