WESTERN ZHOU DYNASTY (CIRCA 1100-771 BC)
Each blade with slight median ridge on both sides continuing to the tip and with a curved lower edge, pierced with three rectangular slits at the back of the blade for attachment beside a six-character inscription, the tang with a narrow slit and hole for hafting purposes, with silvery grey patina and malachite encrustation

The inscriptions read Sun shi Lin Fu tu ge. In ancient Chinese, tu refers to a foot soldier, and this may indicate that these ge were intended for the use of a foot soldier.
