Lot Essay

Moonflasks with this decoration and Qianlong marks are quite rare. One of slightly smaller size (8 5/8 in. high), also with iron-red decoration, was sold in our Paris rooms, 22 November 2006, lot 326. A larger example (19¼ in. high) substituting pink enamel in place of the iron-red, from the Walter and Phyllis Shorenstein Collection, was sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 1 December 2010, lot 2968.
