The bulbous body finely painted around the sides with a mountainous river landscape depicting various pavilions, flowering trees, a meandering river and a waterfall dividing a blue-green mountain face, all between bands of lotus scroll encircling the spreading foot and shoulder and repeated on the tall, waisted neck, with gilt borders

The painting of the landscape on this vase is similar to that found on a brush pot, also with Jiaqing iron-red seal mark, illustrated by J. Ayers, Chinese Ceramics, The Baur Collection, Geneva, 1974, vol. 4, no. A 635.
