Comprising: an early 19th century gold and blue enamel vinaigrette modelled as a miniature book; a late 18th century gold mourning ring with locket compartment with plaited hair within white enamel legend 'GHM, 14 REG LIGHT DRAGOONS, the matching hoop inscribed DIED AT MARTINIQUE OCT 1796 AGED 23; another mourning ring engraved with the same legend; another mourning ring engraved 'EM'; a Victorian signet style ring with central shield shaped red foiled rock crystal cartouche; a 19th century oval bloodstone fob seal engraved to depict the profile heads of Mars and Venus, the mount modelled as a phoenix; a pair of early 19th century gold-mounted shell cameo drops, one depicting the head of Luna, the other Aurora; an 18th century steel watch key; and two 18th century fob seals (11)

Lot Essay

The initials EM engraved to the mourning ring included in this lot probably relate to Elizabeth Montgomery (d. 1814) daughter of the 4th Earl of Selkirk, and first wife of Sir James Montgomery 2nd Bt. (1766-1839).
