The border contains cartouches with Persian verses.

The rug is shaved in three levels: the ivory background as well as the rivers are the shortest against which the motifs with slightly higher pile are being set. The pile depicting certain details like the jewellery of the figure is the thickest one. This technique produces a relief-effect.
