Lot Essay

The Leeds Fire Clay Company Limited originated in 1889 from an amalgamation of five Yorkshire firms, the predominate one being Wilcox and Co., producers of 'Burmantofts Faience' Art Pottery and Architectural Ceramics. 'Lefco Ware' was introduced for garden ornaments in 1912 and was a variation on their "Marmo Faience", used for architectural wares and facings.
