A FRESH COPY OF THIS CELEBRATED WORK ON WOODS based on samples from the collection of Reverend Hazeu of Rotterdam (particularly the timbers of the West Indies) and samples from the cabinet of Houttuyn. The bibliography is complex, and some have argued that the presence of the 1791 title indicates a re-issue of the first 48 plates; others, such as Landwehr, suggest the title was issued on completion of the supplement. Arnold 645; Bradley I, p.124; BM(NH) IV, p. 1902 (defective); Brunet V, 291 ('On le trouve rarement complet'); Landwehr 84; Nissen BBI 939; Oak Spring Sylva 6; Pritzel 4291; Stafleu and Cowan 3082 'the book seems to be rather rare').
