Lot Essay

Peter Dallas, of an ancient Scottish family, was the second son of William Dallas of Edinburgh. In 1804 he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel of the Madras Army and died two years later at Seringapatam. His elder brother Lieutenant General Sir Thomas Dallas served with distinction under Eyre Coote.
